Governance Officer

Website Kirklees Council

Job Description:

We have two Governance Officer roles available within the Homes and Neighbourhoods Service, supporting our quality and governance arrangements as part of the Business Assurance Team.  They are a fantastic opportunity for someone who is seeking more responsibility and challenges to build on established organisation and planning skills. The roles have a hybrid working arrangement. We’re very happy to discuss flexible working to achieve the work-life balance we know is so important to our workforce and our service

Job Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities are around managing the programme of board and other meetings, including scheduling papers and ensuring reports are available in a timely manner.  You will guide officers towards the flightpath for reporting through the network of boards and committees which papers go to within a local authority environment for information or approval.

This role sits outside of the Democratic Service within the Council but works in partnership with them and would suit anyone who is looking to gain experience within a democratic environment and would like to learn more about how decisions are made and accountability is assured.  The role will also co-ordinate policy and procedure reviews within the service and deliver project work to support the team.

Job Requirements:

If you are internal and want to apply for this job as a secondment you must be a substantive employee of the Council with over 6 months continuous service and have successfully completed your probation period.
